My own priorities and values wonderfully align with Partners in Diversity, and I couldn’t be more excited to be here. I look forward to continuous growth and dedication to Oregon’s diverse communities," shared Nolan.
As part of the Partners in Diversity team, Nolan will manage the organization's member engagement efforts and ensure members are taking advantage of their membership benefits. We look forward to introducing Nolan at our next in-person event and encourage you to connect with him over email.

Participate in the Portland State University and Partners in Diversity DEI Impacts Research Project
We want to invite you to participate in the DEI IMPACTS research project, a collaboration between Portland State University (PSU) and Partners in Diversity to understand the effectiveness of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Oregon and SW Washington. By participating in this project, you'll not only gain free valuable insights into the effectiveness of your DEI policies, but also contribute to a broader understanding of best practices in the region. With this project, we hope to answer:
|
- What is the current state of DEI policy and practice in Oregon and SW Washington organizations?
-
What are the tangible, bottom-line benefits of effective DEI policy/practice for organizations?
- Which policies and practices have the biggest impacts on employee well-being, retention, and commitment?
|
DEI Impacts Project Consist of:
|
-
At least 1 (one) interview (30-60 minutes) with leaders (e.g., HR managers, DEI specialists, executives with knowledge of the organization’s DEI policy/practice)
- An organization-wide anonymous employee survey in 2 (two) parts (10-15 minutes each)
|
We will not disclose the name of your organization when we share the research report to our wider audience.
Once You Participate, You'll Receive:
|
- A free report compiled for your organization summarizing key indicators of DEI policy success
-
Access to the full regional report, allowing you to compare your organization’s outcomes to other organizations in the area and understand common challenges and solutions
-
A clear signal of commitment to outcomes-driven DEI policy. By partnering with independent researchers, your employees will know you value their unfiltered feedback and you are committed to understanding the impacts of the policies and practices you’ve spent time and money implementing.
|
To learn more about this research project, please attend an information session with the researchers in person or virtually. Please complete this intake form to schedule your info session. The last opportunity to participate is February 2024.
If you are interested in participating in this research or have any additional questions, please reach out to hello@partnersindiversity.org.

Partners in Diversity Welcomed 33 Honorees at PCC Sylvania During Say Hey!®
Last month, we partnered with Portland Community College (PCC) to host our final Say Hey! event of the year. The event brought together more than 400 professionals of color, featuring the introduction of a distinguished new group of Honorees, a poignant Native American Heritage Month story and acknowledgement, and our first in-person introduction of our new executive director, Jenny Kim.
"One thing that I really enjoyed about the Say Hey! event is the introduction of Honorees with a range of skills who come from different parts of the country. This creates a valuable connection for people, like me, who are aspiring to gain perspectives into different industries," shared Ben Nguyen, first-time Say Hey! attendee.
We'd like to thank everyone who joined us for the first time and those who continue to support our efforts throughout the year. Say Hey! is one of the few spaces that exist solely for professionals of color to connect, and we really appreciate the effort you all put toward creating a safe space and sharing valuable opportunities.

Month of December: Human Rights Month
December 3: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
|
|
|
Human Rights Month is celebrated annually during the month of December and serves as an extension of Human Rights Day, which takes place on December 10, marking the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, this groundbreaking document is one of the first documents outlining fundamental and universal human rights for all people. Although not legally binding, the thirty articles within it have served as an important guide in the development of many national constitutions and domestic legal frameworks across the globe.
As the world grapples with various global conflicts, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the rights and freedoms set forth in this international document. We invite you to take this month to celebrate and acknowledge movements or organizations within your communities who are leading the charge towards protecting the human rights and dignity of all people.
