Enhancing inclusion, recruitment, and retention of research participants on NIH grants

The NIH has released new guidance that may be useful to researchers submitting NIH grants: Allowable Costs Related to Participant Inclusion Activities. This document outlines examples of activities that NIH grant recipients can charge to their grants as allowable costs. Examples include reimbursing participants for transportation costs to the research site, advertising and public relations costs related to the study, and reimbursing participants for childcare expenses incurred while they are participating in the study.

Classroom Presentations

The ORCI is currently scheduling classroom presentations for the Winter semester. If you are interested in having a representative from the ORCI and/or the Institutional Review Board (IRB) serve as a guest presenter in your classroom to discuss research ethics/compliance topics (i.e., human subjects research, responsible conduct of research, etc.), please contact the ORCI at rci@gvsu.edu. We will try to accommodate as many requests as possible.

Grant opportunities straight to your email

Wondering how you can stay informed about funding opportunities for your research? One great way to stay informed is to head to grants.gov, the central website for all US-government-supported grant opportunities, which has a handy subscription feature that will provide updates to specific grant programs, email you a daily list of current grant opportunities, and even send you a targeted list of opportunities that fit your search criteria. Open a grants.gov account and set up your Manage Subscriptions page.

Faculty Collaboration with Industry Partners Survey

Following up on the Provost's message, we are asking faculty and staff to participate in a survey with the purpose to gather their perspectives on collaborating with industry, assessing the value they place on these partnerships, their familiarity with university processes, and their suggestions for support for establishing industry partnerships.

This survey is the beginning of a new NSF-funded project. The survey has been designed to take only 10 minutes. The results are anonymous, and your participation is voluntary. To meet grant timeline for analysis, which informs a broader gap analysis, please respond no later than December 13, 2024. Thanks!
