Hello, Ward 7 Families:

I hope you're having a pleasant start to the month. We had another great ward council meeting last week, with important updates and learning about Indigenous Education. Meeting minutes will be available on my Ward 7 page this week. In the boardroom, our schedule of committee meetings has resumed. As a reminder, families are welcome to tune into meetings of our standing or advisory committees, for timely reports and discussions on a variety of achievement and well-being topics. Members of the public may submit a request to delegate at a Board committee meeting. Delegations may be submitted in writing for trustees to read or, presented orally at the meeting, either in person or virtually.

NEW: Humberside CI, Runnymede CI and York Memorial CI Attendance Boundary Change - Feedback Survey

On November 25th, a virtual public information meeting was held to share proposed changes to the attendance boundaries for Humberside Collegiate and Runnymede Collegiate in Ward 7. Please refer to the webpage and frequently asked questions for more information, and to the feedback survey to share suggestions.

NEW: TDSB Chair on TVO The Agenda

Last month, Chair of the Board, Neethan Shan appeared on TVO’s The Agenda, hosted by Steve Paikin. He was joined by OPSBA President Kathleen Woodcock, Toronto Star reporter Kris Rushowy, and Doug Little, Editor of The Little Education Report and former TDSB Trustee, for a panel discussion about budget cuts across Ontario school boards.  

This 30-minute conversation provided the TDSB with an opportunity to continue our advocacy efforts to the province for adequate funding that meets the unique needs of students and schools across Toronto. We cannot continue to operate under outdated funding models that fail to address students’ current and future needs. You can watch the full segment to hear us talk about balancing the budget, funding gaps, the impact of deficits, and more.
