|
The CONHI Center for Rural Health and Nursing (CRHN) won three Higher Ed awards at InfoComm 2024 in Las Vegas last week. The CRHN's newly launched Igloo Immersion Room was recognized for Best Collaboration Solution, Best Immersive Experience, and AV Project of the Year. The awards were given to the CRHN by the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance (HETMA).
"We are grateful to HETMA for recognizing our achievements in innovation. We are the first in the nation to utilize Igloo Vision technology for nursing education, and I am appreciative of and inspired by the Center for Rural Health and Nursing and Smart Hospital staff for their efforts in bringing this vison to life," said Elizabeth Merwin, Dean & Executive Director, Center for Rural Health and Nursing.
Aspen Drude, Manager, Rural Health Center, also shared her appreciation for the awards.
"Winning the AV Project of the Year Award is a testament of the Center for Rural Health and Nursing at UTA’s dedication to leveraging advanced technology to enhance healthcare access and education in rural communities. This recognition underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence in addressing the unique challenges faced by underserved populations," Drude added.
Congratulations to the entire CRHN team!

A group of 5th and 8th grade students had the chance to show off their moves thanks to a program that developed more than just their dance skills. Hosted at Texas Hall in May, the Colors of the Rainbow event served as a finale of a 10-week dance workshop where students used ballroom dance as a vehicle to break down social barriers and encourage teamwork. Organized by Dancing Classrooms North Texas (DCNT), the event includes a variety of dance competitions students perform in front of friends and family.
The UTA Department of Kinesiology has been a partner of DCNT since 2006, and has supported the organization with research and development, teaching artist recruitment, and the use of training facilities.
