Director, Confucius Institute

Did you know these fun facts about the Director of the Confucius Institute?

  • I worked as a curator in China’s Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing (a National Anthropological Museum) before moving to the US. I had conducted extensive anthropological fieldwork in the Guizhou province, then the least economically developed province in China, and co-authored books with the research findings.
  • I’m an alumnus of Miami and graduated from the SAN department.
  • I was on a team that created the software that allows people using a telephone line to download movies from satellites before people could use the internet to do so. I created the international supply chain component and the product was for Disney.
  • I raced along the fastest Bobsleigh track in the world in Canada in 2019.
  • I’m very interested in diverse cultures and their stories. My next dream is to visit Machu Picchu to witness the ancient Incan culture.
