|
Hello Jumbos!
This week, we're taking you on a tour of Student Services, including the Registrar and Student Financial Services (the Bursar and Financial Aid), and answering some of your frequently asked questions.
|
What does Student Services do? |
Student Services is the first point of contact supporting the Registrar’s office, the Bursar’s Office, Financial Aid, and Residential Life and Learning. We provide a wide range of support, from guidance on how to pay tuition, apply for financial aid, obtain a transcript, and register for classes.
Explore Student Services' office web page to learn about all of our services.
|
How do I contact Student Services? |
You can email us at studentservices@tufts.edu or call us at 617-627-2000 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET). When you are on campus, you can visit us in person on the 7th floor of Dowling Hall. Make note of our summer hours.

What does the Registrar do? |
The Registrar is a key office in Student Services. Their team retains and manages your academic records, including your transcript. They facilitate many common transactions related to course registration, major declaration, grading, enrollment, and tracking degree requirement completion through the degree audit.
Explore the Registrar’s office web page to learn about all of our services.
One of the Registrar’s many responsibilities is to protect the privacy of your education records and the other rights you have to access and amend those records, which are outlined in a federal law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA.
FERPA guarantees you access to your education records and limits and/or prevents disclosure of those records to third parties. The Registrar also provides a mechanism for students to put in place a Privacy Block, which limits the University's ability to disclose your Directory information to third parties.

If you would like to enable your parents or family to see your academic record, pay your tuition and fees, and/or waive the university's health insurance if applicable, give them "Invited Viewer" access to your Student Information (SIS) account. Grant them access to both Bills and Balances and Insurance Waiver. For more information, please visit the Registrar’s Invited Viewer Access web page.
|
What does Student Financial Services do? |
Student Financial Services consists of the Bursar and Financial Aid offices. The Bursar's Office will issue you an eBill each semester. You will receive the fall statement in early July (due in early August) and the spring statement in early November (due in early December).
| How do I view and/or Pay My eBill?
You should begin looking for your eBill statement through the SIS portal in the first week of July. Preliminary versions of your eBill may also be viewable in SIS; however, your eBill will not be finalized until tuition and any applicable room and board charges are added, and any aid awards or other adjustments have been made.
To view and/or pay your eBill, click on Bills & Balances in SIS, then select My eBill or Make a Payment. If you have not already done so, you may also want to invite others (including parents) to view or pay your bill: add them as an Invited Viewer in the SIS portal and have them follow the directions they receive via email.
We offer a number of different payment options for paying your eBill, you can review them online on the Bursar's web page.
How do I request a refund?
Students may request a refund from their student account when a valid credit balance exists due to overpayment. We issue refunds electronically through BankMobile. You can review our refund policies as well as learn about the refund process including how to set up an electronic preference on the Financial Services web page. Please note that the option to set up a refund preference with BankMobile will be available beginning mid-July.

Reminder to Set Up Your Tufts Email Account |
Ahead of your arrival, each week, you will be receiving important reminders, key updates, and introductions to staff and resources. We will send all official University communications to your @tufts.edu email address starting on June 16, so if you haven’t already, please set up your Tufts email account now and check it often. Also, do not forward your Tufts email to any other account (Gmail, etc.) because forwarding can prevent your emails from being delivered.
|
You'll have a few responsibilities over the summer, and many of them can be completed online. Your customized New Student Checklist 2026 will be posted on June 1, and it will help you stay on track over the summer. Keep a lookout for this important summer "to-do" list. It will include Academic Essentials, your introduction to academics at Tufts, which will open in early June.

Orientation and Campus Arrival Reminder |
Pre-Orientation programs are an opportunity to get involved on campus early, meet upperclassmen mentors, gain leadership skills, and meet other students with similar interests. We'll be opening registration for "Pre-O" on June 1. If you'd like to participate in one of our eight programs, be sure to register by June 15 at 12 midnight ET.
New students who choose to participate in a Pre-Orientation program will arrive and move in on Friday, August 28. Please refer to the Pre-Orientation web page for further details.
Students not participating in a Pre-Orientation program should plan to arrive on Wednesday, September 2. Undergraduate Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including new transfer students.
A one-time Orientation fee of $515 is due May 31 and can be paid in your application portal.
Orientation begins on Wednesday, September 2, at 3 p.m. and runs through Monday, September 7. Classes start on Tuesday, September 8.
On the August 28 and September 2 move-in dates, there will be programming for parents and families at 3:30–5:30 p.m. Parents and families are also welcome to campus on Thursday, September 3 for the annual Matriculation Ceremony at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be livestreamed, as well. Specific details on arrival, move-in, and Orientation will be available later in the summer. In the meantime, please also refer to the Undergraduate Orientation web page and the Residential Life and Learning web page for updates.
| Housing Accommodations Reminder |
If you have a documented disability and need housing accommodations, apply now!
Students with a documented disability (e.g., physical, mental, chronic, sensory, and/or mobility) who may need housing accommodations must submit their diagnostic documentation to the StAAR Center and have met with an Accessibility Specialist (online or in-person) by Thursday, June 18 to be considered for an accommodation. After the June 18 deadline, we are unable to guarantee housing accommodations for the fall semester.
If you have any questions, email staarcenter@tufts.edu or call 617-627-4539.
Note: The StAAR Center process is only required for students requesting disability-related housing accommodations. The Residential Life Housing Survey is required for all students, including those who submit the StAAR Center forms for a housing accommodation. The Housing Survey is open now and must be completed by June 26.
