PDX People Honored at Customer Service Awards
At PDX, the the passenger journey runs on more than flight schedules. It runs on people who notice, who step in when needed and who offer their best efforts. Kindness travels fast here, PDX People carry reassurance, patience, and problem-solving wherever it’s needed, turning ordinary days into unforgettable ones and proving that the heart of this airport is its people.
To recognize actions that truly stand out as extraordinary and support our core values, we host the PDX People customer service awards each quarter. Read about the employees we recognized from October through December 2025.

Be Knowledgeable for Heart Month
Imagine for a moment that a traveler had a medical emergency nearby. Would you know how to help?
If not, take advantage of Heart Month in February – the perfect time to get up to speed on important resources right here at the airport.
The Portland Airport Fire and Rescue team offers CPR classes and will show you how to use an automated external defibrillator, also called an AED. If you haven’t used one before, the portable electronic device automatically diagnoses life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and treats them through defibrillation, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
Even if you’re not trained in CPR, anyone can use an AED – just follow the simple audio and visual commands on the machine. To help you know where to find an AED in case of emergency, take a moment to familiarize yourself with this map of AED locations in the airport - especially in areas you frequent often.
Remember, more than 360,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the United States. Immediate CPR and use of an AED can more than double a victim’s chance of survival.

You're Invited: Accessibility Takes Flight with PDX and GoodMaps
When an airport listens to its disability community, amazing things happen. On Friday, Feb. 6, join GoodMaps, the PDX Accessibility Committee's Pete De Vasto, and Port of Portland's Customer Program & Services Manager, Walt Marchbanks for a webinar on how accessibility became a core part of PDX’s infrastructure and what it means for the future of inclusive travel. You'll learn how GoodMaps helped PDX turn accessible navigation into real-world independence through advocacy, testing, and technology that empowers travelers who are blind, use wheelchairs, travel with families, or think differently.

Get a Sneak Peek of America ByDESIGN at PDX
PDX is the talk of the architectural world, so it’s no surprise that America ByDESIGN stopped by the airport. While on site, the show’s executive producer Mike Chapman talked with ZGF Architects’ Gene Sandoval and Sharron van der Meulen about how they turned a massive infrastructure project into a warm, sustainable, and uniquely Portland experience. As they shared, it’s all attributable to great clients, great space, great partners, and great people. Look for the episode coming in late spring 2026!
