SCHULICH ALUMNI NEWSLETTER
April 2024
| |
Dear Schulich Alumni,
Spring is here, and with it lots of new Schulich Alumni initiatives that you won’t want to miss.
With spring comes our annual Schulich Alumni Forum – CONNECT ’24. Our theme this year is navigating in a dynamic world. I’m sure we can all benefit from some navigational insights to take back to our organizations. We open with a fireside chat with Evan and Allen Lau, leading Canadian tech entrepreneurs. And we wrap with an economic outlook from Benjamin Tal, Deputy Chief Economist, CIBC World Markets. In between look out for discussions on the evolving worlds of venture capital, retail, digital currency, AI and more. And back by popular demand are our Coaches Corner sessions.
Join us on Saturday, May 4th for an on-point agenda and an opportunity to network with your fellow alumni. You can find the agenda and registration here.
This year we are taking a new approach to milestone reunions. Several reunion groups (Class of 1989 MBA, Class of 2004 BBA & IBBA, Class of 2004 MBA & IMBA and Class of 2019 MBA & IMBA) are gathering in their years for dinner or socials on the night before CONNECT, Friday May 3rd. And some are gathering on the Saturday at CONNECT. I’m excited to reconnect with my MBA '89 classmates. If you are interested in signing up for your class reunion, click on your class year above to be directed to the registration page.
A few other new initiatives to watch out for include:
Alumni on the Move – we are so proud of the accomplishments of our Schulich Alumni. And we have created our monthly Alumni on the Move showcase on LinkedIn to cheer you on. Don’t forget to reach out and keep us at posted on your new roles, awards etc. You can reach out to us at alumni@schulich.yorku.ca
GTA Alumni Ambassador Dinners – 5 dedicated alumni have become this year’s ambassadors and they are hosting monthly alumni dinners. These are just casual gatherings but great fun. Our first one was a sell out! More details here.
It promises to be a busy spring in the world of Schulich Alumni. I hope to catch up with you at one of these events.
Sincerely,
Pam
Pam Laycock (MBA '89)

In Memory of Wallace Crowston
| |
Wallace Crowston, one of our School’s longest-serving Deans, recently passed away at the age of 90.
Wallace joined York University’s Faculty of Administrative Studies in 1972, and a short while later was appointed Dean, a position he held until 1984. After serving two terms as Dean, he remained on the Schulich faculty for another three years before leaving to become Dean at McGill University’s Faculty of Management Studies.
Anyone wishing to honour Wallace Crowston for his leadership and his dedication to our School during its formative years may donate by clicking here.
