Thank You, PDX People!
We recently held our annual PDX People employee appreciation week where we said thank you to our airport community with food, swag and fun...and we captured some highlights in a video!
While the theme of the celebration has always been gratitude for airport employees, this year we're especially thankful for your support, grace and hard work as we crossed the finish line and opened the new main terminal.
Throughout closures and changes, PDX People continued to provide top-notch friendly, knowledgeable and respectful customer service. Now we're saying THANK YOU for going the extra mile – on carpet and terrazzo! – and sharing your PDX pride with each and every traveler at our airport.

What's New with PDX Next: Demolition Work Progresses on Phase Two
As you might have heard at the September PDX Next forum, Phase Two of main terminal work is now underway.
In Phase One, we built everything that you see in the new terminal…and a lot more. This includes new spaces for tenants, TSA and concessions, new ticket counters, new baggage handling systems and new makeup units, which are used for collecting luggage and getting it on the airplanes.
Phase Two primarily consists of demolishing the old ticket counters. In these photos, you can see how demolition is coming along as we prepare to add new Y columns to support the roof. We’ll keep you in the loop as this work continues!

Good Day Oregon: Bringing Peace to PDX with Music
While travel may be stressful, our PDX music program is known for its soothing sounds. Paul Herman is one of about 30 talented musicians who helps bring peace to PDX, playing the piano in his favorite spot – the new main terminal. As he says, "For me, getting to play here is like playing in a palace. People are mesmerized by the music. It's so fulfilling, really beyond anything else I've done." Watch on Good Day Oregon.

PDX in Pictures
Think you’re in good shape? How about running up 40 floors of the U.S. Bancorp Tower (aka “Big Pink”) while wearing more than 70 pounds of full combat gear?
That’s what Portland Airport Fire and Rescue’s Tim Traudt, Zach Havelind, Jason Zollner, Levi Favara, Cody Scoles, Tyson Settle, Dustin Hicks and Jon Kowalski did. And all those stairs – around 800 total – were for a very good cause: the Portland Firefighters Stair Climb Challenge fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. See a few more photos over on the @flypdxfire Instagram.
Collectively, the event raised nearly $50,000, about $3,000 of which was contributed by our team. Even more impressive, Cody took home first place with a pace of 11 seconds per floor, completing the challenge in just over 7 minutes!
