Alumna Named Teacher of the Year for Excellence in Art Education

Tricia Erickson, ’05, was recently awarded for excellence in teaching during her 13-year career as an art educator. She was named the 2017 Teacher of the Year, as well as Secondary Art Educator of the Year, during the Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA)'s annual Fall Conference, which took place in Detroit in November.

GVSU Receives $1 Million Grant to Support STEM Students

A new project at Grand Valley will financially help academically talented, low-income students seeking an education in science or engineering, while providing them with mentoring and hands-on learning and research opportunities. The project received a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program (S-STEM).

Professor Recognized by National Organizations for Contributions for Advancement of Science

Edward Aboufadel has been named a Fellow by the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for his contributions to the advancement of science or its applications. Aboufadel is the first Grand Valley faculty member to be named an AAAS Fellow.

Men's Club Hockey Annual Alumni Game

The GVSU Men’s Club Hockey Alumni held their annual alumni game at the Georgetown Ice Center on November 18. Thirty-two alumni participated in the game with some alumni traveling from all over the United States. The alumni enjoyed reconnecting with each other and watching GVSU’s current men’s club hockey teams secure two victories.
