Under construction: Hines' River Point (left) and Wolf Point (right) projects
Hines Discusses Signature Riverside Projects at CCAC March Meeting
In March, members heard an exciting presentation on Wolf Point and River Point, two major development projects along the Chicago River in the northwest quadrant of the Central Area, from Hines Chicago directors Laura E. Hines and David Moore. Members were pleased to learn that new riverside parkland will be created at each project site, and that both sites were chosen in part based on public-transportation accessibility. Transit-friendly development and public access to the Central Area riverfront have long been priorities of the CCAC.
River Point will be a 52-story, double Class A, LEED pre-certified office building with a 1.5-acre riverside park built over Amtrak’s right-of-way north of Lake Street between Canal Street and the Chicago River. The project is 40% leased with delivery expected in early 2017.
Wolf Point will be a three-tower mixed-use development with heights ranging from 500 to 950 feet, a six-story underground parking garage, and 2.3 acres of new pedestrian areas including an “activated” riverwalk with a signature restaurant, a lookout point, and natural riverfront coordinated with Friends of the Chicago River. Phase I of the project includes a 50-story residential tower with 500 rental units. All three towers will pursue LEED certification.
Join Us in April for a Special Look at the Central Area Action Plan!
