Golgotha is quiet. The bodies of three criminals have been disposed of; one body had been taken down from the cross and buried by his friends.
The tomb is quiet. The Roman guards stand at attention, not speaking or moving.
The house where the disciples hide is quiet. They are afraid that they too will be arrested, and so they stay quiet. They had so much hope on Sunday, but that hope is gone. There is nothing to say.
The room where Mary and Mary Magdalene prepare the burial ointments is quiet; they do their work without speaking to each other.
Jerusalem is quiet. Those who were healed instantly by the touch of one man. They are confused. Why would such a Prophet be killed in the most degrading method Rome has?
The graves of the dead are quiet. Death has had its victory over the children of the one true God.
It is quiet everywhere. But in that infinite quiet something is happening.
And everything is about to change forever.
