This month marks 451 years since the birth of William Shakespeare. And what better way to celebrate than with a month full of Shakespearean happenings! 
1. Shakespeare Allowed! Kick Off!
Saturday, April 4th, Nashville Public Library
Reception 11 a.m. // Shakespeare Allowed! 12 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to read Shakespeare's ENTIRE canon? On April 4, at Shakespeare Allowed!, we will begin reading every play Shakespeare wrote, a new one every month, for the THIRD time. This is your chance to mark this feat off your bucket list, with friends! Join us at 11 a.m. at the Nashville Public Library for a light reception and then settle in for HENRY VI, PART I at noon. 2. Second Annual High School Shakespeare Festival
Saturday, April 18th, Hillsboro High School
Performance 7 p.m.
Join us at Hillsboro High School on April 18th for "As You Will Shakespeare," the Second Annual High School Shakespeare Festival. For one night only, Nashville School of the Arts, Maplewood High School, John Paul II, Hillsboro High School. and more, will come together for a night of performing Shakespeare. Each school has chosen a different play to perform a scene from, creating a night of "What You Will Shakespeare." Come support these young thespians as they celebrate the Bard! 
Your genorosity during last year's The Big Payback helped us raise the funds to make the High School Shakespeare Festival a possibility. Stay tuned for details about this year's The Big Payback, to be held on Tuesday, May 5th.
3. Shakespeare and Christianity Celebration
Saturday, April 25th, Aquinas College

Join us on Saturday, April 25 for a full day of talks and performances on the topic of Shakespeare and Christianity presented by the Center for Faith & Culture and its director Joseph Pearce. We will be performing a "Shakespeare Sampler." The Center will also honor the winner of the inaugural Shakespeare and Christianity Essay Contest for high school students. 4. Bard's Birthday Bash and Biggest Balcony Scene EVER!
Sunday, April 26th, Downtown Nashville Public Library
3 p.m. - 5 p.m. // 
Biggest Balcony Scene Ever 3:15 p.m.
Shakespeare will be turning 451 and we are in the mood to celebrate! Join us at the Nashville Public Library to help us wish the Bard a very happy birthday! Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream will be on hand to give free scoops of ice cream to the first 150 people who attend, so make sure you get there right at 3 p.m.! At 3:15 pm join us for the popular, and SIXTH ANNUAL, Biggest Balcony Scene Ever: Everyone present will play Romeo or Juliet in a mass recitation of the famous balcony scene. Prizes will be given for the best costumes including Most Creative, Best Star-Crossed Couple, and Best Young Thespian. More information to come as we get closer to April 26th. In the meantime, go ahead and mark your calendars. You don’t want to miss out on this fun Shakespeare afternoon!
