Dear Students,
I hope you have safely made your way home and are starting the adjustment from being part of a vibrant residential community to being part of a vibrant virtual community.
I write to update you on our now-established policies about refunds and credits for room and board and commuter meal plans.
The College will provide pro-rated reductions of room and board charges for the remainder of the spring semester for those students who leave campus. Students who left campus by March 18 will receive a credit of 43.5% of the semester room and board fee, to reflect the portion of the semester from March 18 through semester’s end. Commuter meal plans will also be credited at 43.5% of the fee for the meal plan.
Students who were granted an extension of time to depart campus after March 18 will receive a pro-rated reduction based upon the week they leave.
Financial aid credits specifically designated to offset room and board charges will be reduced on a pro-rated basis. Otherwise, financial aid will not be impacted; students will retain their aid.
We expect to post these credits to your accounts no later than Monday, March 23rd. If the room and board credit causes your account to reflect an overall credit balance, students can request that the balance be refunded to them (preferably through direct deposit) or left on their account as a credit against future charges. Specific instructions about the refund request process will be provided once the credit is posted to student accounts.
Students who were granted waivers to remain on campus through the end of the semester will not receive a credit for either room or meals.
We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we diligently work through this unwelcome transition.
Best regards,
Kyle Webb
