To honor Florence Nightingale (1820-1910), an English statistician and the founder of modern nursing with a passion for serving and care, and to honor candidates who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship, the International Biometric Society and the Caucus for Women in Statistics and Data Science have partnered to support the Florence Nightingale Award.
Finalists who have displayed a record of service and commitment to honorable causes have been recognized as Finalists and recently participated in one of two virtual sessions, open to IBS members and International Biometric Society attendees free of charge. These sessions were recorded and are now available online at www.biometricsociety.org.
Please join us in recognizing our finalists:
Serifat Folorunso, Ashefet Agete Mengste, Shongkour Roy, Seyifemickael Tilema, Ulrich Kemmo Tsafack, Diribsa Tsegaye Bedada, Habtamu Wubetie, and Hawah Nabajja. Congratulations to our Finalists!
Following the sessions and the official judging process, the winner of our Florence Nightingale Award for 2024 award and $1,000.00 USD prize is Ulrich Kemmo Tsafack (“Tri-level Variable Selection Method for Ultra-high Dimensional Multi-omics Data”).
