Education Abroad News | October 2019
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing these lines from Miami's John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg (MUDEC). This is my first visit to MUDEC, and in the past 24 hours I have:

  • Met Ralitza and Emmanuel Petit, highly successful Luxembourg-based architects who are teaching courses to Miami Architecture students.
  • Attended a lunch meeting of the Student-Faculty Council, a MUDEC student leadership organization that plans student activities.
  • Traveled by train with students to Luxembourg City to attend a concert by the Solistes Europeens at the beautiful Luxembourg Philharmonic.  HRH Grand-Duke Henri was in attendance.  Two Miami students went up on stage to present gifts to the conductor and the soloists!
  • Visited a class on Nazi Germany taught by the legendary historian Emile Haag.
MUDEC is a Miami treasure, over a half-century in the making. It provides our students with a base where they can study, engage, and travel Europe, and our faculty with the opportunity to explore new ideas and to develop European contacts.

The future is just as bright for MUDEC, as we will soon welcome AIMS students and Career Academy students for the first time, and the number of summer and semester-long internship opportunities continues to grow. These are exciting times indeed!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ryan Dye
