Hello Jumbos!
Welcome to Tufts! We're excited to have you as a new student and can't wait to meet you this fall!
You'll be making your way to campus before you know it. Ahead of your arrival, we're going to be writing each week this summer with important reminders, key updates, and introductions to staff and resources. We will send all official University communications to your @Tufts.edu email address starting on June 7, so it is important that you get your Tufts email account set up and check on it often.
Be sure to check your Tufts email each Tuesday afternoon starting June 7. Prior to June 7, we will be sending messages to your personal email address.
This week, we're introducing some of the departments and staff members that you'll be meeting when you first get to campus.

New Student Checklist 101 Webinar

On June 1, you will receive an email that will inform you that the New Student Checklist is open. We hope you will join us on Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. EDT for our New Student Checklist 101 webinar. During this meeting, we will introduce some of the Orientation team and review the New Student Checklist with you. The checklist will guide you through a variety of required or suggested steps that you will need to complete over the summer.
Registration for the webinar is required. Please submit any questions you want us to answer during the meeting in advance. Don't worry if you can't make this time work. We will post a video recording of this session to our website within a few days of the event. Please note that this meeting is intended only for students. We are holding a webinar intended for parents and guardians on Thursday, June 2, that has a different registration link that they will learn about in a message to them next week.

Orientation and Campus Arrival

The official campus arrival day for all new students is Wednesday August 31, 2022. New students who choose to participate in an optional Pre-Orientation program will arrive and move in at an earlier date depending on the program. Please refer to the Pre-Orientation web page for further details. Students not participating in a Pre-Orientation program should plan to arrive on August 31. Undergraduate Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including new transfer students, and begins in the early evening of August 31 through Monday, September 5, with classes starting on Tuesday, September 6. On August 31, we welcome parents and families to campus for the annual Matriculation Ceremony, opening luncheon, and other optional parent/family programming. We ask that all parents and families depart by 5 p.m. that day for the start of the student's orientation programming. Specific details on arrival, move-in, and Orientation will be available later in the summer. In the meantime, please also refer to the New Student Orientation web page and the Office of Residential Life and Learning web page for updates.

What Happens During Orientation?

You’ll participate in a wide range of programs during Orientation that are designed to familiarize you with campus resources, build community and connection, and establish skills for independence and responsibility. We divide our goals for Orientation into four broad categories:
  1. Intellectual Engagement and Inquiry
  2. Meaningful Inclusion
  3. Community and Belonging
  4. Health and Wellness
Learn more about these goals and the programs that support them on the Orientation web page!

Pre-Orientation programs are an opportunity to get involved on campus early, meet upper-class mentors, gain leadership skills, and meet other students with similar interests.
We'll be opening registration for "Pre-O" on June 1. If you'd like to participate in one of our 8 programs, be sure to register by June 15.
