Who can win?
Everyone who works at PDX is eligible. All it takes is consistently going above and beyond while embodying the PDX

People values. Winners attend the event, and all nominees receive recognition.
How do I nominate someone?
If you witness great service – whether it’s a small act of kindness or an amazing customer experience – you can submit a nomination. The ability to nominate is open to all: coworkers, managers, and even travelers. If you see something special, say something!
How are winners selected?
The PDX working committee – made up of 30 volunteers from across airport industries – reviews the nominations and selects the winners each quarter.
What's the awards event like?
Winners and their managers are invited to a special celebration with the PDX working committee, and will enjoy a guest speaker, good food, and an awards ceremony.

The baggage claim refresh continues as we add brighter lighting, a finished ceiling, Wi-Fi upgrades, fresh paint, and restroom improvements.
While we make these improvements, you’ll notice changes to the usual routes beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27. Note: Construction plans can change depending on many factors, so dates may shift.

Biggest route changes
The center of baggage claim will be temporarily closed. If you’re inside baggage claim, you won’t be able to walk directly through baggage claim without going outside. From the ticketing level, the easiest routes are:

- North escalators to carousels 6 – 10
- South escalators to carousels 1 – 3
|
You’ll see signage along the way to help guide passengers, and employees and volunteers will be there to provide directions. On the ticketing level, there will be temporary signage showing baggage carousel assignments.

Fire Alarm Testing This Week |
|
|
| Heads up if you work late nights or early mornings: On Tuesday, Oct. 20, and Wednesday, Oct. 21, from midnight to 4 a.m., crews will test the fire alarm evacuation mode in the main terminal.
During testing, strobes will flash and alarm speakers will sound briefly. Overhead announcements every 15 minutes will alert you that testing is in progress.
Testing is limited to the terminal, but strobes may be visible and alarms may be audible within 50 to 75 feet of each concourse. Alarms will shut off shortly after activation, so noise and strobes won’t be continuous.

Ticket Lobby Reaches Milestone |
|
|
|
Recently, we hit our final ticket lobby milestone with the opening of Oversize (OS1), next to the American and Alaska Airlines ticket counters.
Why it matters:
|
- More screening capacity: OS1 doubles capacity for oversize items like golf clubs, skis, snowboards, and bike boxes.
|
|

|

Easier drop-off: Travelers on American, Alaska/Hawaiian, British Airways, and Icelandair have a shorter walk to drop off oversize items.
- Simpler kennel screening: TSA will move kennel screening to OS1, making drop-off much easier for Alaska travelers – our primary kennel carrier.

Smoother operations: Screening bags closer to their aircraft helps prevent delays and missed flights, while reducing vehicle use, wear and tear, and labor needs.

Let the PDX Carpet Keep you Cozy |

Did you notice a flurry of fleece-y fandom pop up at the Columbia store last week? That's because they're rolling out a series of limited-edition designs and the first one honors our favorite flooring – the PDX carpet!
Our PDX location quickly sold out, but keep your eyes out as they restock in-store so you too can sport the iconic carpet pattern as the weather turns chilly.

This just in: For the first time in their 50-year history (1956 to 2026), the Port Police department has earned state accreditation, recognizing their commitment to professional standards, accountability, and the protection of the people they serve.
The Northwest Accreditation Alliance awarded the Certificate of State Accreditation for a three-year term, following an independent assessment and review of the assessor’s report. After reviewing the department’s assessment, the Alliance’s Professional Standards Committee unanimously recommended granting accredited status.
As Police Chief Jason Wallis reflected, “This first accreditation marks an important achievement for the department and provides a foundation for continued review and improvement of its professional practices.”
