Dear Student,
This month-long programming initiative is meant support First-Years, Sophomores, and Juniors in the School of Arts and Sciences as you discern the majors and/or minors you will pursue for your undergraduate degree. In partnership with the Career Center and the University Chaplaincy, we will be offering several events and workshops to help you understand the major declaration process, explore majors and minors offered at Tufts, and think critically about how your degree will serve you after graduation, in academic or professional opportunities.
Majors Month will begin on Monday, October 17, and conclude on Friday, November 18. This is an excellent opportunity for you to engage with faculty and departments across the School of Arts & Sciences, as well as with various other offices and resources that can support you as you explore academic and co-curricular learning opportunities while at Tufts.
Collect a raffle ticket at every in-person event you attend to be entered into a raffle for prizes!
All A&S undergraduates are welcome to all events, but below are a few highlights for each class year:
First-Years: You're almost done with your first semester of college! What's next? As a BA/BS degree candidate, you should continue exploring all that Tufts has to offer! Check out our event with the University Chaplaincy on Wednesday, November 16: Majorly Confused? Finding Your Own Wisdom for Choosing a Major.
Sophomores: Later this academic year, you will need to declare your primary major for your BA/BS degree! Attend the Major Declaration Workshop on Monday, October 17, to hear advice on how to find a major advisor, what considerations to have in mind if you are pursuing a second major and/or minors, and to learn all the ins and outs of declaring a major.
Juniors: You are more than halfway through your undergraduate career at Tufts! On Wednesday, October 26, make sure to check out our alumni panel event in partnership with Tufts Career Center, You Majored In What?!, to hear from recent Tufts alumni and learn the interesting paths they have taken since graduating. We also recommend visiting the Career Center's Career Lab Drop-Ins for resume or cover letter reviews and to get answers to quick questions about jobs, internships, or networking.
All Class Years: The Arts and Sciences Major Exploration Fair on Tuesday, November 8, is a great time to see all the of the departments in the same place at the same time! You can learn more about the various majors and minors offered at Tufts and get more information on each departments course offerings for the Spring 2023 semester.
We hope to see you there!
