Hair Tips to Fall in Love with Your Hair |
|
|
Falling in love with your hair starts with the right care routine! Here are a few expert tips to keep your hair at its best:
1. Hydration is Key – Keep your hair moisturized with deep conditioning treatments and hydrating leave-ins.
2. Protective Styles – Give your hair a break with styles like knotless braids, natural updos, or crochet styles.
3. Scalp Love – A healthy scalp = healthy hair. Regular scalp treatments and scalp massages with nourishing oils like rosemary and lavender to promote growth.
4. Satin Sleep – Sleeping with a satin bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase helps reduce breakage and retain moisture.

Are you avoiding trims to maintain your hair length? Here’s the reality: Consistent trims actually help prevent breakage and split ends, contributing to stronger and healthier hair growth. Retaining unhealthy hair will only lead to further breakage, as split ends can keep progressing up the hair shaft until the hair becomes too weak and breaks off.
"You gotta let it go if you want it to grow! -A. Michelle

According to hair professionals, it is wise to cut the ends of your hair every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure healthy hair and avoid split ends. However, the recommended frequency may change based on your unique hair type and how much damage it has endured. Those with particularly fine or heavily damaged hair might find it necessary to have trims every 4-6 weeks to maintain its health and strength.
|
Signs That It's Time for a Trim
|
More than usual shedding, increased frizz, unmanageable hair, dullness or dryness, tangling at the ends, or if it feels brittle, are all indicators that it is time for a routine trim. Tip: The only time shedding is acceptable is immediately after a 4-8 week protective style (ex. braids, extensions) has been removed. You should thoroughly comb your hair to allow for dead hair to be released from the hair.
