Megan Borndes, ABM
Megan Borndes Provides Patient, Proactive Customer Service
Megan Borndes with ABM received two nominations – one from fellow PDX employees and the other from Nicky, a PDX traveler.
Nomination 1: "Megan exemplifies the PDX values of being friendly, knowledgeable and respectful every day. She is a role model for what we want from the customer service representatives serving travelers at PDX.
A great example is how she went above and beyond to help a mother struggling to navigate PDX with two young children. Megan proactively approached the mother to find out how she could help. The mother explained she had just arrived but wouldn't be picked up for several hours. Megan informed her about what facilities were available pre-security, and the different areas available for her to go to with her children. Megan then took it upon herself to find juice, snacks and two sensory bags to help occupy and soothe the children...and their mom. She did this without being asked – simply with a caring heart. We need more Megans at PDX!"
Nomination 2: "Our bag was left behind in a car that had been arranged by our hotel. Megan rang the hotel, was extremely patient and managed to get the driver’s number. She then rang the driver and waited with us until he came back. She was absolutely fabulous to two distressed Kiwis [New Zealanders]. Thank you so much for your help, Megan. You deserve an accolade or two from the airport and your company."

What's New with PDX Next: South Ticket Hall, Restroom Closures, Art Gallery and Concourse B Reminder
South Ticket Hall: Now through Friday, March 21, crews are removing carpet and installing terrazzo in the old ticket lobby areas on the south side. While this work is happening, the south elevators and south revolving doors will be closed on the ticketing level. The south elevators will still serve the skybridge, baggage claim and tunnel levels and the escalators will remain open. Mitigation techniques will be in place to minimize noise, dust and odors.
Restroom Closures: The all-user restroom on the north mezzanine will be closed starting Monday, Feb. 10, through Thursday, Feb. 20, while crews replace ceiling panels and lighting. The south pre-security men’s, women’s, family restroom and lactation room will be closed through Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., while crews install lighting controls and occupancy sensors.
Art Gallery: The PDX Art Gallery is closed through Thursday, Feb. 27, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., for work on the floors. There may be some noise while crews are sanding during work hours.

CLEAR lanes open at PDX.
CLEAR Launches New Lanes at PDX
When we opened the new main terminal last summer, we were often asked: Is CLEAR coming to PDX? It’s an option our travelers have wanted and now the service is up and running. Members who opt-in to the paid service can use CLEAR's network of dedicated lanes to securely verify their identity with their eyes or fingerprints, and then move directly to TSA’s screening lanes. It’s another way we’re continuing to improve and streamline the travel experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security. In addition to traveler benefits, CLEAR’s launch at PDX is expected to create 53 jobs and generate over $3 million annually in local economic impact.
Artists speak at PDX Art Gallery opening event.
Missed the PDX Art Gallery Opening? Watch the Recap
Last month, we came together to celebrate the artists and partners who brought PDX’s newest art additions and gallery space to life. From Ivan McClellan’s stunning portraits of Black cowboys to Brad Johnson’s mesmerizing animated landscapes, Rebeca Méndez’s immersive Oregon hikes, and Yoonhee Choi’s vibrant glass walls and gallery exhibition, attendees had the chance to experience these works up close and hear directly from the artists. Each piece is meant to connect travelers to the Pacific Northwest in unique and meaningful ways. We also heard from Martha Almy, founding partner of Portland’s Half Sister Studio and creative producer for the video walls project, who shared how she helped weave these individual artist pieces together with dotdotdash’s evergreen imagined landscapes. A huge thank you to the Regional Arts & Culture Council and the PDX Art Program team for making it possible to showcase such a dynamic range of artists.
Southwest flight for shelter pets arrives at PDX.
Shelter Pets Take Flight from LAX to PDX
More than 100 shelter pets are safe on the ground in Portland after Greater Good Charities' emergency airlift out of Los Angeles, in partnership with Southwest Airlines, Los Angeles County Animal Care, Oregon Humane Society and COPE Preparedness. The lifesaving flight to PDX carried pets like George, who was found as a stray prior to the wildfires. Now George has a new opportunity to find the forever home he deserves, while freeing up critical space in Los Angeles shelters for pets that are lost or displaced due to the fires. Thank you to the folks on the ground and in the air who helped make this flight possible, and to everyone who considers adopting one of these special pets!
