CONSTRUCTION ALERT – City Fire Station Construction: Traffic Lane Impacts on North Torrey Pines Road from approx. Pangea Drive to Genesee Ave.
Project Purpose The City of San Diego is building a new Fire Station on North Torrey Pines Road to serve the UC San Diego campus and nearby neighborhoods. This new station is expected to reduce response times for the areas that it will serve. The station will be the first in San Diego to have all electric firefighting vehicles.
Location and Duration: The current traffic impacts on North Torrey Pines Road will continue through April 2023, with signal interruptions Monday – Friday from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts: Traffic signals will be intermediately interrupted and traffic lanes reduced on Torrey Pines Road to facilitate the construction of the new fire station. Significant delays are possible, especially at the intersection of North Torrey Pines Road and North Point Drive Way. The community is encouraged to take an alternate route when feasible.
