PLA Media Welcomes Emmy Award-Winning Music Producer/Director and Singer/Songwriter Claude Carmichael to Their Roster
New partnership begins with a focus on Carmichael's new album,

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - PLA Media is pleased to announce the addition of singer/songwriter and Emmy award-winning musician Claude Carmichael to its artist roster. PLA will lead publicity and media strategy for Carmichael, introducing his story and music to press, radio, and fans nationwide. The new partnership kicks off with a focus on his debut collection of original songs, the just-released Tennessee Hill.
An award-winning music director and producer, Claude Carmichael has produced soundtrack albums for IMAX documentaries featuring Jane Goodall in addition to television programs and music videos alongside artists like Johnny Clegg, Lyle Lovett, Kenny Loggins, and the Grateful Dead, earning an Emmy Award, two Genesis Awards, and a Native American Music Award among others along the way.
"Claude and I have been in each other's orbits for years," says Pam. "He's one of those right brain, left brain integrated guys that I've admired. He's super smart, thoughtful, and funny. So, when he asked me to listen to a project and help him, I was all in."
"I've known Pam Lewis for years and I'm hoping she can do for me what she did for Garth Brooks!" says Claude Carmichael with a laugh.
Tennessee Hill takes its name and its heart from its title track about a single moment so picaresque you can envision it; as he was driving down a dark country road outside Franklin, Tennessee, Carmichael watched a big silver crescent moon settle onto a hillside in the west and realized, for the first time since leaving New York City, that he was home. The album is about arriving somewhere after a lot of living and finally putting down roots.
For a musician like Claude Carmichael, Middle Tennessee is a perfect blend of his entire upbringing, combining the southern charm and hospitality of his youth with a bustling region that stands as the epicenter of music creativity, a strong gravitational pull for a creative artist of his caliber.
After growing up on rock and folk in Virginia, Carmichael became a New York session singer and producer, working with Billy Joel on The Stranger before shifting toward environmental and documentary music, earning a Daytime Emmy (music direction for a special with Kenny Loggins) and producing soundtrack compilation CDs for IMAX films through his company, Big Screen Music, with artists like Lyle Lovett and Paul McCartney. His soundtrack work has also picked up a Genesis Award for "Bearly Hangin' On" from the Bears soundtrack, a Native American Music Award for the Wolves soundtrack, and Best Music Video honors from the International Film and TV Festival of New York, and accolades from the Environmental Media Awards, the Houston International Film Festival, and the Blue Sky Awards.
Family eventually brought him to Franklin, where he formed a friendship and a sometimes-songwriting partnership with Pete Wasner and connected with Pete’s nephew, Grammy-winning engineer Casey Wasner of the Purple House Studio, who co-produced the new album, with Claude, start to finish. Tennessee Hill mixes humor and heartbreak, from the wry tone of "The Bottom of a Well" to the honky-tonk "Full-Time Heartache" and tender tracks like "Precious One." The title song “Tennessee Hill” captures the night Carmichael realized Franklin was not a stop. It was home.
