As we approach the end of 2024, the incredible momentum at Gateway85 CID shows no signs of stopping! This year has been a game-changer and we're not letting up on the gas as we continue to make strides toward an even brighter future for our district.
We’re thrilled to announce that the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Freight Cluster Plan is gearing up to kick off early next year. This initiative will have a huge impact on our district, improving freight movement and supporting sustainable logistics solutions. With over 3,000 businesses in Gateway85, this plan will be a key driver in strengthening our district as one of the state’s leading logistics and business hubs.
In addition, our team is continuing work on our transit projects, including the Gateway85-Norcross Microtransit program, which is already making waves in increasing mobility and connectivity throughout the district. These projects are helping ensure that Gateway85 remains accessible, efficient and ready to support the growth of businesses and enhance the quality of life for everyone who works and lives here.
We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in the General Election this month. Your engagement makes a difference in shaping the future of our community and the Gateway85 CID team is excited to continue working alongside our county and state officials to elevate Gateway85 as a top business destination in Georgia.
Keep reading to hear more about what’s happening in the district. We’re finishing the year strong and are looking forward to what’s ahead!

Gateway85 CID is proud to share that it has received $250,000 in funding from the Atlanta Regional Commission to develop a Freight Cluster Plan aimed at transforming freight movement, sustainability and mobility in the area. With a 20% CID match, this brings the total funding to $312,500. The plan will examine the transition to sustainable fuels in freight operations, aiming to reduce environmental impact and improve air quality around one of metro Atlanta's highest truck-traffic zones. This strategic project will address cleaner energy use, enhanced access for industry workers and upgraded transit options across this essential transit hub.
"We are not only focused on freight movement but also on advancing clean energy initiatives and protecting and improving air quality for low-income neighborhoods. This plan, which uniquely ties in two counties, lays the foundation for greener transportation options and improved mobility for workers in freight-heavy industries," said Emory Morsberger, executive director - Gateway85 CID.
Gateway85 is set to begin the consultant selection process in early 2025 to launch this transformative study, furthering its commitment to greener transportation and economic growth in metro Atlanta.

On Veterans Day, First Senior Center of Georgia hosted an event honoring its senior community, many of whom are veterans who resettled in the U.S. through the Special Release Reeducation Center Detainee Resettlement Program. This special gathering recognized their sacrifices and celebrated their incredible journeys.
Thanks to a generous donation from Friends of Disabled Adults and Children, the event included the distribution of essential mobility aids—wheelchairs, walkers, canes and shower chairs—providing seniors with greater ease, dignity and independence. These life-enhancing tools are helping seniors navigate daily life safely and confidently.
The Gateway85 team played a crucial role in this initiative, connecting the Center with the resources needed to secure these mobility aids.
"Thanks to Gateway85 and Emory Morsberger, we were able to secure much-needed safety equipment for my seniors. After five years of sleepless nights, unsure where to turn, Gateway85 came through and connected me with the resources I needed. Emory’s help was nothing short of heroic—he worked with me to obtain 30 wheelchairs, 100 canes, 100 walkers and 100 shower chairs. It’s making a huge impact on the lives of our seniors, reducing falls and preventing serious injuries... Our seniors love Gateway85 and Emory for everything they’ve done. We're not just neighbors, but family now."
A huge thank you to Von and First Senior Center for the kind words and to all those who make these partnerships so impactful. We're proud to be part of a community where we can truly make a difference! Read more in the Gwinnett Daily Post.
