Christian Gladish (3L) has built a strong litigation foundation through judicial internships with the Honorable Michael Noriega and the Honorable Esther Salas, along with firm experience at O’Toole & Scrivo. As a future law clerk to Judge Maritza Berdote Byrne, he continues refining his advocacy, research, and writing skills.
|
You have completed multiple judicial internships at both the state and federal levels. What first sparked your interest in judicial work?
My interest in judicial work sparked during my gap year while working at the Elizabeth Immigration Court. I gained valuable insight from the judges I worked alongside and realized how beneficial it would be to understand what moves the needle during litigation—what works, what doesn’t, and what to avoid when appearing before a judge.

Matthew Kane (2L) is building a dynamic legal foundation across the life sciences, digital health, and public sectors. After his 1L summer with Sanofi’s Legal Ethics & Business Integrity team, he now interns at WebMD Health Corp., bringing a thoughtful, mission-driven approach shaped by prior experience with the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office.
|
During your 1L summer at Sanofi, what were your primary responsibilities, and what did you learn about corporate ethics and business integrity?
At Sanofi, I worked with the privacy and M&A teams, researching state, federal, and international law. I reviewed term sheets, CDAs, and licensing agreements, and analyzed evolving disclosure obligations related to AI, profiling, and automated decision-making. I also contributed to revisions of Sanofi’s U.S. Privacy Policy. Working in-house highlighted the importance of collaboration across legal, compliance, and business teams in the life sciences sector. Corporate ethics and business integrity were central to every task, guided by strategic thinking, long-term sustainability, and the principle of “putting the patient above all else.” This experience solidified my commitment to the life sciences industry and fostered mentorships with attorneys that I am grateful to carry forward throughout my career.

Lucas Girardi (2L) brings a strong interest in transactional law, shaped by his 1L summer internship at MetLife Investment Management. As an Associate Editor of the Seton Hall Journal of Legislation and Public Policy, he continues to sharpen his legal writing while exploring the evolving intersection of law, technology, and business.
|
Can you describe your 1L summer internship at MetLife Investment Management and the types of projects you worked on?
My 1L summer internship with MetLife Investment Management exposed me to various areas of transactional law and the dynamics of an in-house legal team. As a law clerk, I worked on projects in securities law, real estate, and private equity. I researched European anti-money laundering regulations and presented my findings to attorneys to ensure that derivatives trade parties were acting in compliance. On the real estate side, I drafted and reviewed assignments of commercial real estate mortgage loans. I also assisted the debt and fixed income team by reviewing private credit documents for transferability restrictions.

Conor Abbamonte (3L) is blending legal training with entrepreneurship as the founder of ColdCaller.ai, an AI-powered platform that helps law students quickly break down case law into key components. Inspired by his own law school experience, Conor is leveraging technology to make legal education more efficient, accessible, and practical.
|
What inspired you to create ColdCaller.ai, and how did the idea first take shape?
The inspiration behind ColdCaller.ai stemmed from my longstanding interest in emerging technologies and a desire to explore how AI could be used in practical, unconventional ways. The idea took shape during my long daily commutes to and from the Eastern District of New York last summer, when I used platforms like Replit to experiment with coding and building web applications. I wanted to apply AI to something I interacted with every day, and I figured the best place to work smarter—not harder—was to create a platform that would give law students more efficient ways to engage with their coursework, ultimately freeing up valuable time. In essence, ColdCaller.ai was born out of a desire to leverage what I knew and make legal education more efficient and effective.
