Building Momentum Across Oregon
|
From rural communities to statewide events, AGE+ has been connecting with neighbors and partners to listen, learn, and develop solutions that strengthen programs in areas like digital equity and housing, as well as opportunities that expand access and choice for older adults. These conversations have amplified voices and highlighted the importance of age-inclusive policies. Thanks to our supporters, we are celebrating that aging is living and longer life is an opportunity for all generations.
Here’s a look at some of the ways we've been bringing our efforts to life in Oregon.

Putting Health Literacy Forward at Suncrest Commons
|
This fall, AGE+ is putting health literacy and multigenerational support forward by partnering with Jackson County Behavioral Health to bring programming to residents at Suncrest Commons. Jennine Greenwell, Older Adult Behavioral Health Specialist for Jackson County, brings her expertise in supporting the mental and physical well-being of older adults to these programs. She will lead a three-session health literacy course in the community room, covering topics such as preparing for and self-advocating at doctor’s appointments, recognizing and reporting elder abuse, and navigating various community resources. After this program concludes, we will reconvene to coordinate additional programming at both AGE+ developments in Talent: Suncrest Commons and Oro Vista Village.

This summer, another cohort of the Leadership Exchange on Ageism (LEA) explored how age bias impacts communities and organizations. Participants left equipped with tools and strategies to challenge ageism in their workplaces and neighborhoods, building a network of leaders dedicated to creating inclusive Oregon communities. An alum gathering will continue the conversation and strengthen this statewide network. LEA fosters both individual leadership and a movement for systemic change benefiting all generations. Learn more about LEA here.

A Win for Age-Inclusive Hiring in Oregon
|
Oregon’s new law, HB 3187, effective as of September 26, 2025, makes it illegal for employers to ask job applicants about their age or graduation dates until after an interview or conditional offer. This change helps ensure that hiring focuses on skills and experience, rather than age.
