What's New with PDX Next: Airport Way, Ticket Lobby and ORAT Events
Airport Way Detours: Good news! The multi-hour, multi-lane closures that were set to impact Airport Way this week have been canceled. While there may be single-lane closures from time to time at each sign, the work is now substantially complete.
Ticket Lobby: Now through Thursday, July 18, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., crews will be painting the south elevator soffit in the ticket lobby. Three escalators will be impacted at a time during each phase of the closure. Foot traffic will be redirected when necessary, and crews can postpone the work if passenger traffic is too high.
ORAT Events: Don't miss the upcoming Call to All familiarization walks:
Monday, July 15 – 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday, July 16 – 2 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, July 25 – 2 to 7 p.m.
Friday, July 26 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Monday, July 29 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Wednesday, July 31 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
See the calendar listings on the PDX People website for details, including what to wear – heavy boots are required. You can also stop by the interactive Share Out Session on Thursday, July 25. These events popping up around PDX allow you to ask questions about the opening, learn what’s happening and win prizes.

Concessions Street Fairs Bring Smiles and Business to PDX
Have you hugged a llama lately? If so, it's all thanks to the teamwork of the Port of Portland's PDX Business and Properties group and their concessions partners.
Back in March 2020, concessions marketing efforts paused as PDX concessionaires focused on staying operational. When the program made a return, we wanted to level up, bringing new energy and a fresh outlook to driving revenue.
Part of that shift? The launch of PDX summer street fairs, complete with loveable llamas and local legend, the Unipiper. And it's more than just photo ops, it's actual ops, with direct effects on both concessions revenue and community building.
Want proof? Hudson News sold all the Moonstruck Chocolate bars they ordered for the entire summer in just one day...then tripled their order for the next street fair. And they weren't alone: All four of the concessions participating in a Concourse D street fair sold out of product and saw record sales. And Cha Cha Cha's owner Javier Hurtado had to jump on the cook line to keep up with all the added business, as did the fine folks at Burgerville. Talk about an impressive impact!
If you haven't yet experienced the creativity and effort behind these events, there's still time: Head to Concourse E for the Thursday, July 18, street fair or head to Instagram for some quick videos with the Unipiper and those loveable llamas.

Guess Who’s Coming to PDX?!
In the coming weeks, we’re sharing some short video intros to the 12 local shops coming to the new main terminal. Who’s bringing the brews to PDX? We’ll give you some hints: They boast about 90+ local beers on tap, mix up equally impressive classic and craft cocktails, and serve up a menu that pairs perfectly with every sip. If you guessed Loyal Legion, you’re spot on! But that’s not all – there’s a little secret they’re keeping under wraps for later. Stay tuned because Loyal Legion is shaking things up this August!

Be Knowledgeable: Stay Safe in Hot Weather
As hot weather continues, it's important to take precautions to stay safe and healthy while at work. High temperatures can pose a risk to both you and your co-workers, but by following some simple guidelines, you can protect yourself and others from the potential dangers of hot weather.
Dress for hot conditions in loose-fitting, light-colored clothes.
Drink water every 15 minutes to stay hydrated. Take a moment to fill up your water bottle before you get to work and stay cool, safe and quenched during your workday. For your convenience, there's a water station at the employee shuttle drop-off spot.
Take frequent breaks in shady, cool or air-conditioned areas.
If you see someone who is experiencing headaches, dizziness and nausea (heat exhaustion) or dry, hot skin, confusion and convulsions (heat stroke), act quickly and get help. In case of emergency at PDX, call 503.460.4000. For non-emergencies, call 503.460.4747.
If you use TriMet to travel, keep an eye on their alerts page as temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit may cause delays. Read more about hot weather how it affects TriMet.
