John McIntire
John McIntire Directs His Attention to Great Customer Service
Port of Portland's John McIntire was nominated by Jeremiah Pacheco, also with the Port of Portland.
"John, a parking control representative, was working the roadway when he observed an elderly passenger having difficulty keeping up with their companion while crossing the road. John stepped in and offered assistance with the passengers’ bags.
The situation quickly escalated as John noticed the passenger was in distress and unable to stay standing. John gently guided them to the ground and radioed dispatch for help. He directed vehicles in the roadway around the passenger as other bystanders began to help.
The passenger had lost their balance due to a medical emergency before falling, and if John hadn't been right there and extremely observant, they would likely have been very seriously hurt. John is a great representative of the Port and we're proud to have him as a member of our team."

PDX Lands FAA Grant
Oregon’s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden recently announced that the Federal Aviation Administration is awarding PDX $8.7 million to help increase energy efficiencyThis grant for PDX comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, a grant program that is fueled by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to fund airport projects to strengthen our nation’s aviation infrastructure.
A previous round of federal funding helped us make major efficiency upgrades when building the new main terminal, essentially doubling airport capacity while cutting the energy use per square foot in half. Now, with this latest grant, we’re able to save even more energy in our daily operations by updating the airport’s older heating, cooling and electrical systems, helping move PDX closer to a goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Last Wednesday, Portland Airport Fire and Rescue joined together to remember the ultimate sacrifice of 343 personnel who bravely gave their lives during the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
As they shared along with a short video on Instagram, "May we never forget these heroes, their call to duty, their selflessness, and all those impacted by this event. We here at Portland Airport Fire and Rescue will never forget and always be grateful to those who answered the call – not out of obligation, but of courage to do what they felt was their duty: To protect and serve."
