Dear Student,
We are delighted to announce that Amy Goldstein will be appointed Director of the Experimental College on June 1, 2023.
Amy, who currently serves as Associate Director of the ExCollege, rose to the top of a list of impressive candidates during a national search to fill this important role when current Director, Howard Woolf, steps down. In her new role, Amy will lead the Experimental College through planning and oversight of annual operations and long-term strategic goals. She will supervise the ExCollege’s team of professional staff members, lead groups of faculty and student volunteers, and work closely with the Experimental College Board and Experimental College Advisory Council.
As the central spoke of a wheel composed of school and university staff partners, students, loyal alumni, and a large number of former, current, and future visiting faculty, the success of the ExCollege Director depends on their ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with various constituencies, demonstrate strong leadership, and bring people together. We have no doubt that Amy will excel in doing just that.
Amy joined the Experimental College as Assistant Director in 2015, where she currently directs the Explorations first-year advising program and leads a seminar for peer teachers. She also contributes to the strategic planning, program management, outreach, and events of the department. From April to November 2021 she served as Acting Director of the ExCollege while Howard Woolf was on leave.
Amy came to Tufts after many years of experience in law and higher education administration. As an attorney she primarily worked with low income clients and prisoners on a range of issues, including health care access, mental health treatment, and public benefits. As a higher education administrator, she focused on program development, career counseling, and experiential learning at both Northeastern University and Suffolk University. In addition, she has taught at the high school, college, and law school levels. She holds a BA from the State University of New York, and a JD from Northeastern University. Outside of work, Amy enjoys many hobbies, such as pottery, knitting and up-cycling old chairs, and spending time with her rescue dog, Luko.
Please join us in congratulating Amy on her new role.
We are grateful to the search committee, which was composed of faculty, staff, alumni, and student representatives, for their time and dedication to this process.
Sincerely,
