MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS
Many seniors buy into the stigma that mental health issues represent a personal failure or weakness. This can generate feelings of shame and prevent asking for assistance. Honest communication about changes is the only proactive way to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan.
If you suspect a senior in your life may be experiencing mental illness, speak to them or someone they trust, including their physician.
Warm Hearth at Home is here to help you navigate mental health concerns. Caregivers can provide various services, including actively engaging to help avoid isolation and personal care, such as assistance with bathing and dressing. Call Warm Hearth at Home at (540) 443-3428 to learn more!

ANDREA'S TIP: EAT FOODS THAT ARE IN SEASON
Did you know there are benefits to eating freshly harvested foods? These foods can mature longer on the plant, making them more nutrient dense and they taste better since they are picked at peak ripeness. Your wallet may also thank you for choosing produce in season – these items are typically sold at their best price. Last but not least, eating foods in season is good for the environment by reducing water and land use, pollution and soil degradation.
Here are some foods that are harvested in June:
Fruits: Apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries, honeydew, lemons, limes, mangos, peaches, plums, raspberries, strawberries and watermelon.
Vegetables: Beets, bell peppers, carrots, celery, corn, cucumber, eggplant, green beans, lima beans, okra, summer squash, tomatoes and zucchini.

GIVE LOCAL NRV
Ten years ago, Give Local NRV started as a way to draw attention to the needs and outstanding work of nonprofit organizations in our very own community. We commend Give Local NRV for spotlighting organizations like Warm Hearth, which helps us raise awareness and funds to support the needs of people who live and work here. Warm Hearth Village is proud to be a partner and this year we hope to raise $5,000 for our residents in need of housing and healthcare through the annual giving day. Please consider giving local and thank you for your support.
