ROMERÍA follows Marina, an 18-year-old orphan in need of her parents’ death certificates to apply for a grant to attend college. She embarks on her romería, her pilgrimage, to the east coast of Spain to renew contact with her father’s family and to encounter their complex feelings about her father’s death from AIDS and his relationship with her mother. She ends by exploring her parents’ life as a couple to understand what that explains of her own identity. Subtitles. 112 min.

Shot in Granada, Nicaragua at the height of contra incursions, WALKER is full of purposeful anachronisms: magazines, Zippo lighters, and helicopters. From the director of Repo Man and Sid and Nancy, this film has grown in stature and (unfortunately) relevance since it's initial release. 95 min.
