The End of Fall Semester... and 2021!
Dear Williams Alumni, Parents, and Friends of the College,

As the holidays and new year approach, we reflect upon how challenging and rewarding (and quick) the fall 2021 semester has been!

Since September students have been reconnecting with career exploration services and programs. Over 150 of First-Year students have already connected with the Center via events and 1:1 advising appointments. Over 500 of all students have had at least one on one advising appointment with our team.

The abundance continues during January Jumpstart, our internship, job, and graduate school immersive preparation program. Winter Study '22 is all about searching for a potential summer internship, developing a post-graduate plan, making connections, and/or gaining key skills. To further support students the '68 Center is offering four Winter Study courses, 116 accredited internships, career essential workshops, alumni job shadowing, mentorship, micro-projects, industry-based Career Treks, and advising. For alumni and parents wishing to be more involved please join the EphLink community and select those areas you like such as directly mentoring students or posting internships and jobs from your organization.

Our very best wishes for the holidays and new year ahead from all of your friends here at the '68 Center for Career Exploration. Follow us on Instagram (@ephcareers), stay connected to Williams, and enjoy the following career exploration newsletter!  -- Don Kjelleren, Executive Director
NEWS & UPDATES
January Jumpstart to Continue in 2022
When Winter Study was cancelled last year, the '68 Center took it upon ourselves to launch January Jumpstart! During the month of January 2021 we provided ample programming so students could get a jumpstart on their spring semester and summer plans. Based on the great participation and quality of programing we had last year we have decided to continue January Jumpstart in 2022! From career treks, to informational panels, and How'd You Get There? and How Do You Do That? chats there will be an abundance of workshops and events for students to participate in to get the most out of career exploraiton.
Fall Semester 2021 Reflection
This semester we had no shortage of advising appointments, career meetups and events, employer information sessions and other ways for students to engage and explore their internship and career options. Our Career Education team had over 690 student 1:1 appointments since September. Our three Meetups (our Diversity Career Day co-hosted with Amherst College, our Business & Technology Meetup and our Arts & Communications Boutique Meetup) reached 115 employers across industries and engaged over 220 Williams students.
Alumni engagement on EphLink has soared. If you're interested in getting involved, please sign up to volunteer as a career mentor, students need you! We also have Job Shadowing, Projects, and Eph-sourced jobs and internships on EphLink. The outpouring of student support by alumni has been incredible. Go Ephs!
Williams College Strategic Plan
We're extremely pleased with the career emphasis within the college’s Strategic Plan. The college’s plan includes mention of “applied learning”, “learning outside the classroom”, “experiential education”, and the “co-curriculum.” The ’68 Center for Career Exploration is platformed with its own paragraph(s). This gives us great optimism for the future of our work and the expansion of our students’ exploration and ultimate career readiness.
'68 Center for Career Exploration Strategic Plan
Connected closely to the college’s strategic plan, the ’68 Center for Career Exploration is working on our own 5-year vision. The ’68 Center Strategic Plan articulates seven Peaks of Excellence, including: All Students, All 12-Months, All 4 Years, Core Connections, Technology, Innovation & Process Improvement, Data, Outcomes & Telling Our Story, and the Future of Work. The plan wil be ready in the new year... stay tuned!
