Howdy, Advocates!
We’re less than 150 days away from the start of the 87th Texas Legislative Session on Jan. 12! We wanted to provide you a brief mid-biennial report as the next session draws nearer.
Thank you!
Due in large part to your incredible support as a part of the Texas A&M Advocacy Network, Texas A&M had its most successful financial session ever. A summary of funding from the 86th Session can be found here.
These additional funds are helping scores of Aggies, and we need your help to fight for more and keep what we have so we can help even more Aggies! Funding from the 86th session is going toward our student success initiatives and academic success programs that are impacting the lives of real students like Rosanky, TX native and first-generation student Marissa Sandoval ’21. After visiting Texas A&M University’s Academic Success Center in the fall of 2019, Marissa raised her cumulative GPA from a 1.88 to a 2.51 in one semester!
This is just one of the many positive examples of the Aggies whose lives have been impacted by your efforts. We want to help many more Aggies like Marissa, and we can only do that with more funding.

We invested almost 50% of last session’s $55 million for student success into targeted faculty hires. These faculty hires will also help increase retention and graduation rates, reduce time-to-degree and improve students’ and parents’ return on investment in a college education.
What can you do next? Thank your legislator!
Find who represents you in the Texas House and Senate, and send them a “Thanks and Gig ‘em!” for their investment during the 86th session in Texas A&M University and colleges and universities throughout the state. For a sample email and social media post, go to TX.AG/AdvocateThanks
Next steps...
Once they are finalized, we will send you a more detailed update with Texas A&M’s legislative priorities for the 87th session. We know it is going to be a difficult session, and while we are sensitive to the stresses on state revenues caused by COVID-19 and other economic factors, now more than ever, we need your help to fight for more and keep what we have!
In the Aggie Spirit,
Jordyn Steinberger ’17
