Celebrating the Holidays
The holidays are a time for thankfulness and reflection and it just reminds me again how fortunate we are to live in a vibrant, exciting community like Huntsville. It’s a fun time of year with the Huntsville Christmas Parade on Dec. 3 and activities throughout the month such as Tinsel Trail and Skating in the Park. And that’s not to mention driving around town to see holiday light displays. I’m also grateful to live in D4 and serve as your City Council representative as well as the support and encouragement from my wife Tanjie. And I want to express my appreciation to City employees, who are dedicated to public service. It was a joy to join the City's Thanksgiving luncheon for employees. So from all of us to all of you, safe travels and have a wonderful holiday season! We will see you in 2025!
Deck the Districts
Combine your spirit for the holidays with your creativity and you may just be a winner in the City Council’s Deck the Districts holiday light competition. It’s a fun event open to homeowners across all five districts encouraging the creative decking of your home’s exterior with lights and decorations. To join in, complete the online entry form along with some photos of your display. City Council staff will judge entries the week of Dec. 9 with winners announced at the Dec. 19 City Council meeting. Each district winner will receive a special prize, a festive decorative yard sign and, best of all, bragging rights for a year.

Celebrating at One Table
As residents passed through the line to receive their Thanksgiving meal at One Table Huntsville, volunteer and Council Member Kling stood at the end and passed out bottles of water. The annual celebration in Big Spring Park, sponsored by Village of Promise, aims to unite people from all walks of life, give thanks, create unity and celebrate diversity. Crowds filled the seats at the tables while others stood in line to receive their food, a snapshot that demonstrated the success of the event.

Walking in Huntsville
Council Member Kling recently embarked on one of his favorite parts of the job and that’s walking neighborhood streets in D4. Kling spent time walking along Westmoreland Avenue, California Street and Governors Drive talking to residents about their issues and concerns. He also tracked down fixes to cable wires and road cracks and noted areas that could use a street sweeper.

Running in Huntsville
The accolades continue to run in for Huntsville. The City has been recognized as the nation’s top Best Trail Running Towns by RUN, an online publication dedicated to marathon and trail running. RUN praised the work by several Huntsville running clubs and identified numerous loops at Monte Sano State Park as the best runs in the city. Huntsville was the only Deep South city included in the rankings.
Public Office Hours
It may be the holiday season but Council Member Kling will hold his monthly drop-in office hours on Monday, Dec. 16, from 6-7 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library’s downtown branch at 915 Monroe St. Stop by to discuss city government and bring your questions and insights.
