- The Huguenot Care and Safety Team would like to send a special shout-out to all administrators, counselors, office workers, cafeteria staff, maintenance staff and teachers. We thank you for all that you do.
- My child is a student at Blackwell Preschool and I would like to give a big shout-out to Ms. Phipps for being caring and understanding with my child, who is very shy. Ms. Phipps has been a tremendous help, going above and beyond to make sure my child has been comfortable – being her first time in school and away from her parents. My child now loves going to school and is always excited to see her teacher.
- Shout-out to Beth Stein with Cloud Charts, Inc. for donating 300 cloud chart kits! Beth not only donated these high-quality resources, she also delivered them to schools! Our 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade students will use the charts for hands-on and minds-on learning about weather!
- Shout-out to Ms. Winston and Ms. Holoman at G.H. Reid. Their leadership is caring, thoughtful, and consistent. We appreciate you!
- A huge shout-out to the amazing floating support staff at Summer Hill! Thank you, Sara Aguilar, Andrew Bartley, Kathiayarie Hernandez, Daniel Hollomon, Sonja Matute, and Tatyanna Woodson for all you do! You are greatly appreciated.

| Open Enrollment Applications – The application window to apply for out-of-zone schools via the Open Enrollment lottery is open through February 1 via the Enroll RPS Portal. This is your opportunity to apply for up to three schools outside of your "zoned school," including Richmond Virtual Academy. (Reminder: This is different from specialty school applications for schools like FMA or Community. That application window closed yesterday.)
A few important notes:
- Families will have until 4:30 pm on February 1, 2023, to submit open enrollment applications.
- We unfortunately cannot accept late applications for any reason. Please plan accordingly.
- As long as your application is submitted before the deadline, the timing of your submission will have no impact on the outcome.
- If you have additional questions, please email us at enrollrps@rvaschools.net.
