Off-Campus Travel and Social Life Update
As you read in President Weinberg's email on Thursday, we are loosening some of the first two week guidelines. Starting Saturday, we are going to allow students to walk into Granville. We are going to ask students to not eat in restaurants or go to bars as it's important to avoid indoor spaces where people tend to not be wearing masks. But students should feel free to walk down to IGA or Whit’s, get take-out, play golf, or go for a run. Masks and distancing guidelines must be followed at all times.
Permitted
- Trips into Granville for groceries and other needs and to walk, run, bike, golf, grab takeout food with distancing and masks
- Gatherings of 10 or fewer outdoors with physical distancing and masks if necessary
- Gathertings in residence hall common rooms, adhering to COVID capacity, but in numbers no greater than 10 with distancing and masks
- Student organizations can begin to meet in-person, outdoors with no more than 20 people with distancing and masks if necessary
Not Yet Permitted
- Patronizing restaurants for sit-down service; patronizing bar
- Gatherings on Beaver Beach
- Guests in residence hall rooms or apartments - other students are not permitted at this time

Managing Anxiety
If You Are Feeling Anxious, You Are Not Alone
College is fun - and challenging, and those challenges probably feel heightened due to the stressors that COVID has put on us both as individuals and as a community. It is understandable to experience an increase in stress and anxiety symptoms as you adjust back to life on the Hill while taking safety precautions, following public health guidelines, and maintaining your physical health. Still, it is important to seek out support and resources if you are experiencing difficulties in managing these higher levels of stress.
Here are some resources you may find helpful
Here are some easy ways to cope with stress, from the CDC
- Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories
- Take care of your body.
- Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate.
- Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
- Exercise regularly.
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Avoid excessive alcohol and drug use
- Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
- Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling

How can parents and families access the COVID-19 Dashboard?
Denison's weekly dashboard on the number of tests administered, the percentage of tests with positive results, and the number of new cases, will be updated on Tuesday of each week. The information is available to students, faculty and staff on My.Denison.edu under the Covid-19 Dashboard navigation button. Starting Tuesday, September 1, the dashboard will be emailed to parents and guardians.
