Dear Undergraduate, Graduate & Professional Students,
We are gearing up for another great year at Tulane and are pleased to welcome all new and returning students.
In December of 2024, the U.S. Congress passed the Stop Hazing Act. This act requires that institutions of higher education have policies around hazing as well as prevention and awareness programs – both of which Tulane has long maintained. You can find Tulane’s hazing policy here. Institutions are also required to include hazing statistics in the Annual Security Report, and to create a Campus Hazing Transparency Report. The latter report will be updated as findings are issued at the conclusion of any hazing investigation. This report will only name organizations charged with hazing, as individual information is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
All Tulane students are required to complete the Vector Solutions Hazing Module. Students should click this link to access the module and log in using their Tulane email and password. Please complete this training by October 6, 2025. Failure to complete this training will result in an inability to register for classes.
In the Spring of 2025, the Louisiana legislature passed the Caleb Wilson Act, which added to our existing hazing education requirements. This new state law requires all members of student organizations to complete two hours of anti-hazing training annually in order for the organization to remain active.
Officers of student organizations are required to ensure that every member of their organization completes the second hour of hazing training. Tulane will offer in-person sessions to satisfy this requirement, as well as a Canvas module that may be completed on an individual basis. Failure to meet this requirement will result in loss of status and funding for the student organization. Training opportunities will be updated on the Hazing Transparency Report webpage as they become available.
It is also critical that all members of our community understand the importance of reporting any instance, or suspected instance, of hazing and how to make such a report. Failing to report hazing is a code of conduct violation and may violate the law.
If you believe that someone’s health or safety is in immediate danger as the result of hazing, please contact the Tulane University Police Department at 504-865-5911. You may also report suspected hazing using our online reporting system. In addition, we partner with Real Response to offer an option to text a report via 504-420-3111. This option allows us to ask follow-up questions to the reporting individual in real time and to give the reporting party the option to communicate anonymously if they wish.
Tulane University treats all allegations of hazing with the utmost seriousness, and everyone should report any suspected case of hazing.
