Get Your Café Justo Coffee!

Deadline: Tuesday, November 12

Just Coffee. . .

filled with justice and love,

fair for everyone – Café Justo

If you’ve been missing Café Justo coffee, now’s your chance to stock up! If you’re just now learning about Café Justo, this is your chance to be part of the solution to the immigration crisis just by buying Café Justo coffee.  The Café Justo (Just Coffee) Cooperative, is a faith-based initiative in Agua Prieta, Sonora. All revenues go to the Cooperative, enabling growers to remain on their ancestral lands rather than migrate to the US.
The deadline to order is Tuesday, November 12. One-pound bags are $12 each and payment is by credit/debit card only. Coffee is expected to arrive around the end of the month. For questions, email Janet Kuhn at janetkuhn@mac.com or Marilyn Cornish at gkcmhs@msn.com.

Room In The Inn
Begins November 13

There is a distinct feel of fall in the air and very cold weather is around the corner. We are excited and solemn about the Room Inn The Inn fall/winter feeding and sheltering program at Westminster – excited because serving together is uplifting and solemn because serving in this ministry can be outside the comfort zone of some of our members yet engaging more members in this ministry is an important opportunity where the impact can span generations.
Slots are open for laundry service, driving the WPC bus and Vine Street bus. Please click the button below to volunteer.

Want to Know What You Can Do to Reduce Your Environmental Footprint?
Members of the Earth Care Task Force have been approached several times about ways to reduce one’s greenhouse gas and environmental footprint. Here is a link to our list of things you can do around your household. The last few are organizations you might consider joining if you want to join others in this effort.

Want to sign up for a newsletter to expand your climate news?

There are so many good climate and environmental newsletters that it’s difficult to choose just one. Anna Robertson’s The Cool Down (TCD) is full of well-researched articles on how climate change is affecting our lives and what people are doing about it, from making carbon-negative shoes to discovering ways to grow drought-resistant crops, and reviews that help you make the best choices on everything from composters to induction stoves.

The Climate Optimist by Anne Therese Gennari, focuses on “changing the narrative on climate change so we can act from courage and excitement, not fear.”

To stay up-to-date on the science, check out The Climate Brink by Andrew Dessler and Zeke Hausfather.

Want to Join us?

The Earth Care Task Force meets on the second Wednesday of the month via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. We will resume meeting in November. Call Curtis Baysinger at 803-603-8221 or email him at cbaysinger2@gmail.com if you want to come join us.
The journey of a pint of lifesaving blood begins with you.

Blood products collected at your drive have now been delivered to patients in need of vital care! The distribution included, but was not limited to, the following local hospitals:
ST THOMAS RUTHERFORD HOSPITAL
LOURDES HOSPITAL
ST THOMAS MIDTOWN HOSPITAL
LIVINGSTON REG HOSP
JACKSON PURCHASE MED CENTER
Each local drive is an integral piece of a puzzle to secure a healthy, readily available blood supply in your community and for every American in need. When collections exceed the need for patients in local communities, we can expand distribution to areas with low supply due to weather, seasonal illness, and other challenges. Ensuring we don’t waste a single drop of blood is our way of honoring your selfless effort and that of every generous donor.

We’re so grateful for your partnership and hope you and your team feel the pride of extraordinary service to your community and beyond.
