Vol. 1 | October 2017
A message from the Director:
Welcome to our inaugural edition of Pioneer Junction, the monthly School of Agriculture newsletter! "Junction" is defined as a place where things come together. Through this newsletter we intend to communicate with both the internal and external stakeholders, such as yourself. You are our MVP, Most Valuable Person!
The new academic session (Fall 2017) began three weeks ago. Classes and labs are buzzing with students and so many activities. Our faculty and staff are fully engaged with teaching, visiting employers at career fairs, employing students on undergraduate research projects, developing international relationships, and many other things. There is lots of life and vibrancy in the SOA academic halls and office suite. Everyone is looking forward to homecoming and the 'Celebrate Ag' themed football game generously sponsored by Compeer Financial. The Pioneer Farm is quite a busy place with daily operations and in conducting on-site classes. Contributions are coming in from alumni, employers and ag advisory council members to support SOA programs.  We are also looking forward to another generous gift announcement coming soon. We are thankful to everyone.
Even though I would like to share more, we would like to keep the newsletter simple, succinct and relevant with various happenings in the SOA.
With my last words, I would like to extend my thanks to the following: Sara Whitaker, SOA Academic Department Associate, for coming up with the wonderful title, Pioneer Junction; lovely design done by Amy Kreul from the publications department and the news content compiled and delivered to you by our student associate, Allison Hahn (Senior, Communications/Marketing Emphasis). Enjoy viewing and reading!
