Ochsner Health has made a $4 million leadership gift to LSU’s College of Human Sciences & Education, establishing the Ochsner Wellness Center within the Huey P. Long Field House. The new center is part of a $29 million renovation funded in partnership with the State of Louisiana through capital outlay funding and through philanthropic gifts from individuals and industry leaders like Ochsner. Learn more about this gift.
While the renovations have hit an exciting milestone (check out this video to learn more!), there is still time for you to leave your mark on the Huey P. Long Field House! Below are different opportunities to share memories and add to the legacy of this historic building.
Naming Opportunities: scroll down for architectural renderings and brief descriptions of the game-changing spaces that will host students, research, and community collaborations.

WILLIAM ANDERS

William is from Elk Creek, Virginia. William graduated from Bluefield College in the Spring of 2020. While at Bluefield, William was the captain of the wrestling team and obtained Academic All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Honors. After graduating with his Bachelors in Exercise Sport Science, William returned home and started working as the Athletics and Activities Director for Grayson County High School, which he is also an alum. He is currently completing his master's degree in Sport Management online. William chose LSU because of the great online program, as well as the fact that his mother, Julie Anders, attended LSU in the past. William hopes to one day work at the college level for an athletic department.

KATHERINE THORN

Katherine Thorn is from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She always wanted to go to LSU and grew up attending as many games as possible, thus sparking her passion for sport management. Katherine went to Coastal Carolina University (CCU) and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Sports Management. While at CCU, she focused her volunteerism and school projects on event management. She was fortunate enough to work on multiple events ranging from ESPN's NCAA Basketball Myrtle Beach Invitational to Hootie and the Blowfish’s Monday After The Masters celebrity golf tournament. After graduating from CCU amid the pandemic, she decided to fulfill her dream and attend graduate school at LSU. In her time at LSU, she advanced her learning and has just started in a full-time position with On Location, a premier VIP experience and hospitality provider for organizations like the NFL and NCAA. After graduation, she hopes to be able to continue to grow in her field, continue learning, and to eventually be an established leader in the operations and marketing of marquee sporting events.

NATALIE HUISMAN, MS: SPORT MANAGEMENT, '21

Natalie is from Pella, IA and graduated from LSU's online master's program in May of 2021. She went to a small DIII school for her undergraduate studies, where she graduated with an Athletic Training degree. Natalie is currently a Certified Athletic Trainer at a DIII school in Iowa. The online master's program at LSU allowed Natalie to work full-time with her school’s football and softball teams as well as on a COVID response team, while still pursuing her graduate education. The flexibility of this program was ideal for her during that time, allowing Natalie to separate school and work while making time for both.
