Firefly Discovery Ride
If you have been hearing about the Firefly Trail and how much fun it is to ride a bike on, it’s time to discover what it is all about.
Pump up the tires on those family bikes and join Trails and Open Space staff on this fun ride along the Firefly Trail. Learn about the history of the trail and future plans. See Athens from a new direction, and discover what a wonderful paved trail system you have here in the Classic City.
This free program is for ages 8 and older and takes place Saturday, April 14 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Online registration is underway.

"Acting 101 - Ghost Stories"
Theatre activities and classes are centered around developing the skills of performing artists of all ages and skill levels in the theatrical arts.
An introduction to theatre course for children ages 8-12, takes place Thursdays, April 11 - May 2 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Participants exploring the basics of dramatization, improvisation, and acting fundamentals. The fee is $83.00 Res, $124.50 Non-Resident. Online registration is underway.

Step Back in Time
The Leisure Services Department will present “Open House: Log House” program on Saturday, April 13 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Sandy Creek Nature Center.
Join Sandy Creek Nature Center staff as they open the doors to the Log House and explore life in earlier times. Attendees will play games, make a craft, listen to a story (2:30), and explore the house built in the 1790s.
In addition to the Log House activities, one can visit the brick factory ruins. Join the students and faculty from the University of Georgia as they continue their annual excavations at the ruins of the Athens Brick Company as part of the University Archaeological Training - Sandy Creek (UAT-Sandy Creek) program.
This program is open to the public. Pre-registration is available but not required. The fee is $3/person for ages 3-adult.

Bears Birthday Party
Make a wish!
The Leisure Services Department will present a special birthday party for Bear Hollow Zoo’s resident bears Athena, DJ and Yonah.
Bear Hollow Zoo will host this special birthday celebration Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 a..m. – 1:00 p.m.
The community is invited to join this celebration and watch the bears unwrap their presents and enjoy their cake. A birthday card will be available to be signed by well-wishers.
This program is free and open to the public.

Good Grades = Free Pool Passes
Making the grade at the swimming pool!
The Leisure Services Department continues a special summer program celebrating students with good grades.
In order to be eligible, any student, Kindergarten through 12th grade, who resides in Athens-Clarke County must take a copy of the student’s final report card or equivalent to a Leisure Services facility office where a pool or splash pad is located. Those sites include Bishop Park, Heard Park, Lay Park, Memorial Park, Rocksprings Park and Walker Park.
A report card with all A's or all E's guarantees a free summer pool pass. A report card with all A's and B's, or all E's and M's, is good for 10 free swims.
