| Remembering Frank Friedlander
| |
| Frank Friedlander died on October 1, 2015 after a brief and relatively painless illness. He felt that he had had a long and rich life, and was quite accepting that it was about to end. He was 88 years old.
Frank was born in South Orange, New Jersey on Sept. 22, 1927. He was always interested in people and why they did what they did. He graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1950 and went on to earn an MBA from the University of Texas in 1956. Frank then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and went to Western Reserve University and earned his Ph.D. in social and organizational psychology in 1962.

Enhance the OD Community and Volunteer with OD Network
| |
| Dear Colleagues, “Personal and professional development” are the answers we get every time we ask OD Network members about why they join and re-join year after year. One of the best ways to accomplish both is to join one of our committees or project teams. As a volunteer, you can help us realize our vision of “creating effective and healthy human systems in an inclusive world community,” which is part of our strategic plan.
In this exchange, members will have the opportunity to work with mid-career and senior OD professionals on projects that advance OD Network as well as the field. At the same time, you will gain valuable experience and exposure to others in the field and within the OD Network.

Maya Angelou once said “We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.” Much of our workplace behavior is full of bias–most of which we demonstrate without realizing that it is happening. We have learned that we all have biases–the fact that we’re human and have brains means that we’re biased (see June 2015 Network News D&I article). But how can we reframe those biases, unconscious or not, in our work environments to help achieve greater business outcomes, strengthen team relationships, create learning organizations and foster tolerance?
