Have Feral Peacocks Become a Problem?
The Memorial-area neighborhood of Heathwood and its adjacent communities have lived among peacocks for decades now, but residents are divided as to whether the invasive species is a problem.
While some residents report the birds are aggressive and destructive to property, the peafowl have a devoted following among other residents who say their beauty enhances the neighborhood.

The flock is well known among ornithologists and invasive species experts and has become a case-study in invasive bird species, said Ashley R. Morgan-Olvera, director of research and education for the Texas Invasive Species Institute (TISI) at SHSU.
