Message from the Associate Dean and Extension Director

Every year, Extension faculty are reviewed on their body of work for the programming, outreach, and service they deliver.  The first step is the submission of an Annual Performance Report (APR) which is provided through the UAVitae system.

The review process is initiated with a peer review exercise, which is used as an input to each faculty member’s annual review and it is also used as an important component to the annual Unit Review.

We are quickly approaching that time of year and I want to remind everyone that this is a great opportunity to showcase how important and valuable your work is.  The data you enter is also used to create annual reports, marketing efforts, and local, state, and federal reporting.

We have an internal APR Guidance Committee who will be conducting webinars to assist faculty on general questions surrounding the process, navigating the UAVitae system, and some overall timelines.  This year, we incorporate new scoring criteria designed to facilitate more subjective and actionable feedback, as opposed to a numeric score.  The new criteria was voted on by Extension faculty in December 2017 and approved by Extension Administration.

Members of the APR Guidance Committee will be sending additional information soon about other expectations and when you can attend one of the webinars.  But please begin entering your APR content for 2018 within the UAVitae system sooner rather than later.

If you have any questions, please e-mail them to the APR Guidance Committee at extaprcommittee@list.arizona.edu.

Giving Tuesday - A Message from the 4-H Foundation

Today is the 7th Annual Giving Tuesday

This year, all donations made through Facebook will be matched by Facebook and Network for Good.  Only  non-profits with 501(c)(3) certification and who have registered through Facebook can participate.

We encourage you to donate to your favorite charity.
But, we also ask you consider supporting the separately incorporated and separately recognized 501 (c)(3) - The Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation

If you give through Facebook, you can write a note honoring or memorializing your favorite 4-H volunteer/mentor or you can specifically donate to one of the many 4-H statewide events supported by the Foundation - like JOLT, Camps, 4-H Competitive Events, and of course National Citizenship programs.

Remember your donations are matched.  So, a donation of $125 will be matched with another $125 which will help some 4-H member attend a county camp.  A gift of $1000 would become $2000 and could send a 4-H member to Citizenship Washington Focus.

Giving Tuesday is only today, Tuesday November 27th.

Your gifts will help the 4-H program; "Make the Best Better". Thank you in advance!

Step UP! Bystander Intervention Program Workshop

December 5, 2018 - 11:30-1:00pm, ENR2 Building, Room 225

Have you ever been concerned about a situation and wanted to help...but didn't?

You're not alone.  It's know as the bystander effect.  You are invited to atend a workshop examining some of the barriers to helping as well as strategies to overcome those challenges.

Step UP! is a bystander intervention program developed at the University of Arizona and recipient of the NASPA 2010 Gold Award.  Learning skills and strategies to interven makes people more likely to help in the future. Learn how to apply Step UP! to different situations and to become a more active bystander.

Facilitated by Becky Bell, M.A. Associate Athletics Director, C.A.T.S. Life Skills, The University of Arizona, Step Up!  Be the Change, NASPA Gold Winner, www.stepupprogram.org

Live stream will be available, but in person attendance is highly suggested. Workshop will not be recorded
