Board Member Cathy Myers and her husband, Mark, say, "We support De La Salle North Catholic because we’ve heard many examples of challenges overcome and dreams realized."
During these uncertain and unsettling times, challenges can sometimes feel unsurmountable: Will our students and their families have enough food? Will students be able to complete online classwork while they work full time or take care of younger siblings?
Despite the difficult times, DLSNC continues to provide an exemplary education. As Cathy and Mark say, "We strongly feel that DLSNC is the best investment in education in Oregon." The combination of college-prep coursework and the Corporate Work Study Program gives the students the tools and support they need to reach their potential.
With the help of supporters like Cathy and Mark and a dedicated school community, DLSNC shows up for students by providing food and Internet access to families in need, online classes for students, daily teacher office hours, online access to counselors and tutors, and encouragement in the form of virtual assemblies and emails, showing students that we are with them on their journey.
With economic inequality expected to grow because of the pandemic, Cathy and Mark say that assisting and empowering more students and families to be able to "live a great life in our shared city is key to Portland continuing as a great place to live. We need strong schools in all communities of Portland."
Cathy and Mark are excited about the plans for our new campus, seeing it as a "path forward with bigger plans and more opportunities, a place to call home." When many people are staying at home and life seems more circumscribed, having big plans, big dreams, and more opportunities are all things we can look forward to.
Thank you for being part of our present and for helping us reach our brilliant future.
