Dear District Leader,
Happy new year! As we enter 2022 and start working toward the National Tournament, please let us know how we can support you and your district in the months to come.

Student Recognition Opportunity!

New this year, any NSDA member student may submit legislation by February 15 to be considered for the 2022 National Tournament docket (multiple submissions welcome). We are seeking more submissions, more diverse topics, and more student input to align with our strategic goal of championing student agency and voice. Students who author legislation selected for use will be recognized during the National Tournament. Please encourage participation in your district! Learn more »

Single Entry Letters + Auto-Qualifiers

If your tournament is hosted on Tabroom.com, coaches will complete their Single Entry Letters virtually through Tabroom.com on the NSDA Forms tab. If you're using Tabroom.com, no paper single entry letters are needed aside from auto-qualifiers. If your district chooses to use SpeechWire, coaches will need to complete and turn in their students’ Single Entry Letters in paper form. Those forms should be collected, scanned, and emailed to info@speechanddebate.org by the district chair.

All auto-qualifiers, regardless of the platform used to tabulate their tournament, must fill out a PDF copy of the form and send it to their district chair.

Free Districts Judge Training Courses

We encourage you to require judges at your district tournament to take the NFHS hosted Cultural Competence Course! This course provides guidance on how to properly evaluate students by allowing consideration for their cultural background and identity. The course will be required for all National Tournament judges again this year. For more in-depth training consider requiring the Adjudicating Speech and Debate course.

District Awards and Recognition

Nominations are open for all of our district-to-national awards! Each winner of the following district awards is automatically entered into the running for the national-level award when reported by the district chair. District committees may set their own district-wide deadlines, but district chairs must report district winners to us by April 16 for national award consideration.

Alumni May Now Claim a Free NSDA Membership
