ATMIA Canada Newsletter
Dear ATMIA Canada Member,
Well, here we are–at the end of another Month. It seems as though November went by at lightning speed. As the end of the year approaches, we are well under way with plans for 2018.
This past month has been interesting, with ATMIA attending two events in an effort to remain mainstream presence in the payments arena in Canada. The annual Everlink event was held in Ottawa this year, which is the premier venue for Canada’s 150 Celebration. Once again, the Everlink team upstaged themselves with an excellent speaker line-up and class act sponsor hall. The event drew varied industry types and presenters.
The second event of the month was Canada Payments Innovation Forum put together by RFI Group. I participated in a panel discussion on the “Cannibalization of Cash.” Fellow panel members included Jim Brown, Samsung Pay; Peter Read, People Card Services; Albert Lang, Payment Source; Debbie Gamble, Interac, and the facilitator from HSBC, Cathy Pin. The questions from the audience sparked much lively, informative discussion.
Dana Benson and I have started putting together the agenda for the ATMIA Canada event, being held on April 24th and 25th, 2018 in Toronto. The time is now to etch these dates in stone, and plan for the budget of the event. Click here to view our call for speakers.
There are many moving parts within our industry these days. Some of these can be threats, such as the never-ending media releases on how cash is disappearing. You may have noticed an increase in the number of articles coming your way about how plastic is replacing cash. In addition to our GRC staying ahead of the curve on developments on this issue, ATMIA facilitates numerous committees to develop plans of action and develop survival strategies. We do need your expertise and input within the committee sub-groups to help preserve and protect the ATM. Please click here to view the list of active committees and raise your hand for involvement in any committee that may be of interest to you. Additionally, our GRC needs financial support to continue relationships with service providers in the area of advocacy. Click here to make a contribution of any size.
Lastly, if you would like a story about your company to feature in an edition of our Canada Region Newsletter, please send the material to curt.binns@atmia.com. An ideal package is 250 words, plus either a photograph or logo (supplied as a separate jpg or png file), along with your website address.
All the best,

Curt Binns
