Take the FREE Way Around Bethesda!

Downtown Bethesda has been largely spared from cold weather thus far this autumn, but we are sure it's going to head our way sooner or later.

When cold weather does come upon us, hop on the free Bethesda Circulator bus for a warm and comfortable ride.
There are stops throughout downtown Bethesda, including the Metro station and parking garages. Perfect for Christmas shopping on your lunch hour!

The Circulator runs weekdays and Saturday at hours convenient for downtown employees and visitors.  And now you can cut your wait time by downloading the app for iPhone and Android!
Pedestrian Safety
Once again, Standard Time is upon us, which means that most commuters will be walking or waiting on transit or carpools in the dark. There are several things you can do to make your winter walk safer (and warmer!):
  • Wear reflective or brightly colored clothing.
  • Stay within crosswalks and on sidewalks; this will make you more visible to motorists.
  • Slippery roadways will make it more difficult for drivers to stop quickly if you enter the roadway unexpectedly.
  • Allow for additional stopping distance between you and the vehicle to give the motorist time for their car to come to a complete stop.
  • If you are carrying an umbrella, make certain you are not obstructing your view of traffic, bicyclists, and other pedestrians on the sidewalk.
  • If you must use a headset while walking, keep the volume down so you can hear traffic coming and alerts from bicyclists who may be close.
  • If you see a street light that is dark, you can report it to Pepco.
  • Layer on  your clothes, and if you get too cold, use the Bethesda Circulator App to locate the nearest Circulator bus!

Ride On Signs Receive National Attention
Montgomery County's Ride On bus service was recently featured in a National Public Radio story about transit and technology.
The story, which aired on October 30, featured one of the nine Ride On stops in the County with signs that track the location of Ride On buses in real time.
