HOUSE PASSES CONTINUING RESOLUTION
The House voted 217-213 Tuesday to pass a stopgap measure that will fund the government through September. The bill, released over the weekend, maintains funding at FY24 levels for agencies like NSF, NASA, NIH, NEH, DOE and AFRI, though DOD's Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) accounts face significant cuts. This includes the DOD’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), cutting funding from $1.5 billion to $650 million–a 57 percent cut from the FY24 enacted level. Following the vote, the House now goes on recess and sends the bill to the Senate, leaving just three days until shutdown set for March 14.
