Remembering 3.11 Remembering 3.11 Together on Facebook Join us tonight, March 10th at 7:00PM EST on Facebook for the 10th Year Commemoration of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Consulate General of Japan in New York has partnered with a number of organizations and individuals to create an hour-long feature in remembrance of the lives lost and still missing in the wake of the triple disaster that affected Tohoku, the northeast region of Japan. On this occasion, we are showing our deep appreciation to the United States for the support they have shown Tohoku. #UnshakableFriendship Ten years on, Tohoku has undergone a remarkable transformation. After a decade of reconstruction, the region is prepared to welcome guests from around the world. Together, we can recognize the courageous efforts of Tohoku in rebuilding their communities and revitalizing the region. Watch Here Tea Time: Ambassador Yamanouchi Remembers 3.11 with Japan Society's Joshua Walker  Ambassador Yamanouchi joined Joshua Walker, the President & CEO of Japan Society, to remember the 3.11 triple disaster on a special episode of Tea Time. Ambassador Yamanouchi served as Executive Assistant to the Prime Minister at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Throughout the episode, he recalls the generosity the United States showed Japan in the wake of the triple disaster and how initiatives such as Operation Tomodachi - "Operation Friend" - served to strengthen the Japan-US friendship.  Watch Here Join CLAIR, NY in Remembering 3.11 Through Film Through March 11th from 7PM to 9PM, Japan Local Government Center, CLAIR NY will host online screenings that feature documentaries about the 3.11 disaster. Many of these films are by or about JET Program participants and cover aspects of JET, foreign support for Japan, recovery efforts in Tohoku, and exchange relationships. These films will be streamed in real-time and include live Q&A sessions with each director. The Japan Local Government Center, CLAIR NY organized panel discussions about "Sister City Relationships", "Japanese Food Culture and Health" and "The Future of Tohoku". The films will be accessible for viewing through March 14th at 9PM EST.
